Introduction
You can help our support team resolve your issue much faster by providing clear, numbered steps that allow us to replicate the problem.
How to Document Steps for Replication
The best way to show us the problem is to write down the steps as you're performing them. Create a numbered list detailing each action you take. For each step, describe what you see, especially where the error occurs.
Here’s an example of how to document an issue with a coupon code not working on a Magento store.
Example: "SUMMER20" Coupon Code Fails at Checkout
- Navigate to the homepage at
your-store.com. - Go to the "Men's T-Shirts" category.
- Click on the product with SKU
MH01-XS-Blue. - Select size "M" and add the product to the cart.
- Go to the shopping cart page.
- In the "Apply Discount Code" field, enter SUMMER20 and click the "Apply Discount" button.
- Expected Result: A 20% discount should apply, and a success message should appear.
- Actual Result: The page reloads, and an error message, "The coupon code is not valid," is displayed above the entry box.
Always Include Recent Changes
It's also crucial to tell us about any recent changes you've made to your site, as they're often related to the issue. This context can save a lot of time.
Good examples include:
- "I just installed a new one-step checkout extension, and now our PayPal payment method isn't working."
- "We had our developer deploy a custom module yesterday, and now I'm seeing this error."
- "After flushing the cache from the Magento admin panel, several product images disappeared from the homepage."
